I usually avoid white clothes–it gets dirty too easy, I inevitably spill something on it, etc.–so this dry-clean only blazer was a bit of an impractical choice. But I find myself wearing it on a weekly basis. It has turned into one of my summer staples, great with dresses and with jeans.

Based on comments from friends, I should wear this easy and comfortable dress more often–three people told me I looked tall. At barely 5’4″, that’s something I never hear! The dress is still too long for me to wear flats, but wedges work just fine.

I give to charity on a regular basis and barely glance at the brief thank you note on my receipt. I recently gave to a classroom in the Bronx on Donation Day #2 (for completing tasks on my 101 Things in 1001 Days list) and received this note from the teacher. It was unexpected, heartfelt and made my day. You’re welcome!

Dear R,

I cannot express in words how thankful I am to all of you who donated to my project. It really means a lot to me to see how many people value the education of these students as much as I do. I really want to help my students in the best way possible and using these materials will be extremely helpful. They will most definitely make learning more fun and enjoyable. As a teacher it is important to have the best resources for my students to learn and achieve greatness in their education. It is extremely difficult today with all the budget cuts in eduation to receive the materials we need to teach.
These materials will benefit me greatly for the upcoming school year. I am going to be working with a different group of students. However, these students will need even more extra help. My class will be consisted of students who are holdovers or students who barely made it through the second grade. I am looking forward to next year and helping these students succeed. I want to make sure that I have all the best possible resources for them to make sure they will be able to improve greatly in their education. These materials will be extremely beneficial to them and I am so thankful for all of you who helped out. I am sure my students will appreciate them as well.
With gratitude,
Ms. C.

“Short girls don’t wear long skirts,” says my mom and every style advice column. But they are fun and vibrant, and, let’s face it, hard to miss this season. I love the colorful prints and easy elegance of the full skirt. This is my first attempt at a maxi dress, a skirt that I’ve pulled up and belted into a strapless dress. Even so, it almost reaches my ankles–not sure I’ll ever be able to wear it as a skirt without sky-high wedges! I felt girly, relaxed yet polished, perfect for rooftop cocktails with friends.
